A higher life exists in your mind

Five thoughts, ideas, insights, or quotes to power up your mind to think differently and creatively about life and who we are. Put all previous thinking away and open up a brand new world of the Supermind. YOUR SuperMind.

We all live in one big world. Everyone is part of planet Earth. It’s home to us all. But historically even though we all existed under one planetary roof, we lived. worked, traded, and generally travelled locally. Our lives were less about joining the rest of the world, and rather about joining our community (which is another topic of SuperMind Saturday here). That’s quickly changed with the expansion of jet travel, big business, and social media trends. Now globalism is ‘it’. But that globalism is causing untold damage so SMS jumps into the debate.

If you want to sell to the world, you have to tell the world. That was beyond virtually all companies to market across so many different nations, cultures, histories, and belief systems. The cost was bank breaking without a guarantee of a return at all. But what if you could put all the people of the world in one place to see what you offer and to promote to them? Fraction of the old cost, maximum exposure and connection to everyone. Voila, social media platforms. Your new best friend. A planned friend possibly.

Think of a major New Year sale at a huge department store. People lured in by the money savings and benefits crammed at the door waiting to get a piece of the action. Boom. It’s 9am, the gates go green and the masses flood in to find their golden prize. Isn’t that a lot like the world today too? Social media, the internet, and rolling news, has shown where life looks like a sale, everything you’ve wanted and waited for. As rules of immigration has relaxed over the decades people are after that super life they’ve seen. They’ve been connected, now they got to find out what it’s like. Immigrate, travel, etc…the gates are open and they’re on their way.

We used to be a world of myriad cultures. Ones we celebrated and honoured. All types and sorts. Some very ancient, others more traditional. That’s what made the world go round. What made this planet unique. What we experienced in one place, you couldn’t quite find anywhere else. And then along came capitalism and its global roll out plan. Now you see Masai Mara tribesmen with Apple phones and tens of thousands of social media picture takers at Stonehenge at the Equinox. Globalism has become the new culture steadily destroying the historical ones that existed for a long time. Maybe THAT’s the culture we need to get rid of?

The principle of globalisation has always been sold as a benefit for all. Every economy will be boosted but, as expected, that hasn’t happened. And famous author Noamh Chomsky tellingly observed and wrote, ‘Globalisation is conventionally used to refer to the specific form of investor-rights….designed by wealth and power, for their own interests’. Intelligent people like this can see through the smoke and mirrors used to distract who is really winning from globalisation.

Rulers used to rule. Leaders and governments used to set the controls and we all had to abide by them. They were, in effect, top of the tree. Come the 1970’s the march of capitalism began its rise to prominence. Once social media entered the show, globalism took off with capitalism as its model. Then the rulers began to lose their power, the financiers and big business took over the top spot. They held the world in their hands (not long ago Apple had more reserves in the bank than the US nation it was based in!!) and now completely so. They now influence, set agendas, push and strangle the regulations, and own economies. Sadly, the final point here this week…

Ok, that’s another SuperMind Saturday done. Thank you for being here for the SuperMind time. Keep thinking about these. We need more minds thinking about this issue and the others issue on SuperMind Saturdays. Why? Because it’s needed. Because the world requires new thoughts and ideas. Perhaps YOURS!!
